Here are two great, very real videos that were shown at previous Chai Lifeline dinners.

wow, you people are amazing!
I was just telling a friend that works for camp HASC that I don't know how she does it. It must take super unconditional love to care for these people.

Wow. Wow.

Wow.

I'm...in awe.

Babysitter -- Don't know about in HASC and I can only speak for myself, but really, except for the first day when I didn't know what to expect, I gain more than I give. Frankly, even though I've gotten much better at what I do, I'm prouder of the first time than anything since because it was probably the last time I was 100% altruistic about it ;-)

Bas Melach: Interesting way of putting it. But I can't imagine what you gain from it. I mean, unless they aren't an extreme case. Usually when people are special they can't give back in the same way that you can give to them.

I dunno, I just would never be able to do such a thing, so I look up to those that do.

Babysitter, I would like to make a few points:
1. When involved with people with medical problems, or "special needs" (like at HASC), life becomes different. You get a better perspective of what is inportant. And that includes loving a yid for being a yid
2. When people find themselves caring for a child with special needs, HaShem gives KOACH
3. People with special needs (intellectual disabilities) are PEOPLE-- fun, witty, selfish... just like you and I. Come over to my blog to see what a personality a teen with disabilities can be.

I can see that happening. same with point number 2.

3)That's what everyone says, I just have a hard time believing that. Not that there's anything bad about them. I just have some reasons of why I'm afraid of them. They make me so sad, I cry thinking about them, from the way they look. I wrote a blog entry about this twice.

I'll check out your blog.

Thanks for the comments, y'all!

Babysitter, I have a response but I'm trying to formulate a post on it. Stay tuned.
